As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Jordan’s position on the global tourism map, the city of Aqaba has welcomed a high-level Italian media delegation. The visit was organized by the Jordan Tourism Board and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).
The delegation’s visit was part of a comprehensive familiarization program designed to highlight Aqaba’s unique tourism and investment potential. The program showcased a blend of authentic experiences and modern developments, emphasizing the city’s diverse attractions and promising opportunities.
Dr. Ayman Suleiman, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Reserves at ASEZA, underscored Aqaba’s status as an integrated tourism destination offering a variety of experiences and products. He pointed out the city’s strong appeal to the Italian market, which is considered one of the key contributors to Jordan’s tourism sector. Dr. Suleiman also outlined the investment incentives and new tourism projects that enhance Aqaba’s global competitiveness.
The visit included an introductory tour of Aqaba’s key tourist landmarks, as well as excursions to Wadi Rum and Petra. Members of the Italian media delegation expressed their admiration for the region’s unique diversity, which combines desert adventures, Red Sea leisure experiences, and breathtaking natural landscapes.
Additionally, the delegation received a detailed briefing on ASEZA’s strategic plan for 2024–2028, which focuses on sustainable tourism development and preserving the region’s distinctive environment. The discussions also covered Aqaba’s advancements in port infrastructure and its role in supporting economic and tourism growth.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation members expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality and well-organized program. They emphasized the importance of strengthening media and promotional exchange between Jordan and Italy to further support tourism and investment in the region.
